About the role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Selfsia you will own critical parts of our financial data pipeline — from bank statement ingestion to automated tax report generation. You will work closely with the founding team to make architectural decisions that scale.
What you will do
- Design and implement robust APIs consumed by our web and mobile clients.
- Integrate with Latvian banking APIs, e-invoicing systems, and the EDS tax portal.
- Improve the performance and reliability of our data processing pipeline.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of backend experience, ideally with PHP/Laravel or a comparable framework.
- Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching strategies.
- Experience with background job processing (queues, workers).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech or accounting software.
- Knowledge of Latvian tax regulations.
